Alfredo Sauce

Shopping List

  • 4 tsp (20 mL) butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) heavy or whipping (35%) cream
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) 3.25% whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) black pepper
  • 2/3 cup (70 g/150 mL) Kraft Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) finely chopped fresh chives or parsley

Make it now!

  1. In large skillet set over medium heat, melt butter. Cook garlic, stirring, for 30 to 60 seconds or until fragrant. Sprinkle with flour. Cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes or until smooth.
  2. While whisking, slowly pour in cream and milk. Season with pepper. Continue to whisk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring frequently, for 5 to 8 minutes or until sauce has thickened. Stir in Parmesan and chives.
TIP:

For fettuccine Alfredo, cook 6 oz (175 g) fettuccine according to package directions. Reserve 2 tbsp (30 mL) pasta cooking liquid; drain fettuccine. Add fettuccine and pasta cooking liquid to skillet with Alfredo sauce. Toss until well coated. Serve with more Parmesan on top.
